Sharon Helgason Gallagher

President and Publisher at ARTBOOK | D.A.P

A talk entitled “Fewer Are More: What is the Right Scale for Book Publishing in the Digital Economy?”  In a world where a president can change the lives of millions by simply clicking “retweet,” how can the sheer scale of a physical book—its years of gestation, its bulky mass, the commitment of time and money it asks of its readers—be valued?  And if today’s metrics of information value are now scaled to the digital, what measures should publishers be using to guide their work and investments today?

Ronny Gobyn

Managing Director of Tijdsbeeld & Pièce Montée nv

A discussion of the recent collaboration he undertook with The Museum of Modern Art, New York, to publish the MoMA Highlights handbook in twelve languages. He will address the editorial, design, typography and production issues one needs to consider when embarking on large-scale multi-language editions of this nature.

Dr. Sarah Anne Hughes (Sally)

Principle Lecturer in Publishing at School of Arts, Oxford Brookes University, Oxford

A presentation of several of the case studies featured in her recent publication Museum and Gallery Publishing: From Theory to Case Study (Routledge, 2019).
